Stalking our Look Alike

It's more enjoyable to be in a position where you are idolized than being the desperate fan.
When our parents birth us into this world, we had the idea of being on our own, living for ourselves and doing as we wish, then it dawn on us that we had siblings; some we came to meet and others that followed after us. Now we see a certain look that runs through the family - when we think about having the same look as our halfly-sweet and halfly- troublesome siblings we feel the bond. Now the biggest bombshell is when we are introduced to another person everyone looks up to; not just our small family but everyone we know, whereas we have never seen this person at any family gathering. Now the big twist is we are told we look like Him and that's where the stalking begins.

We want to know why we look like Him. We are not only told we look like Him but we are also taught to live like Him. How did our lives have such a twist? This is not what we bargained for. We are supposed to live as we wish, make our own decisions, choose any path we want and If it doesn't go well, there's always plan B for a reason. Why must our lives be conditioned to live like someone; having Him as our standard and His life as our blue print.
From the beginning we are reluctant to follow through like we are being advised because we want to be our own boss, but the truth is because we didn't have that level of wisdom and understanding to know that it's best for us that way. It's difficult to walk a path no one has plied before but we have our look alike as our blue print; we only have to walk in His footsteps plus our parents are confident of His track record so what's there to fear?
As we continue to walk in His footsteps, our understanding is enlightened and we no longer follow Him casually but now we begin to stalk Him properly. Ever had a girlfriend/boyfriend that stalked you at work, home, social media? yes that's the one we become like and we are joyful about it.
The look alike we stalk is Jesus. He is that celebrity figure who puts our lives in check and makes stalking sound so cool. He is a celebrity figure because we have heard of how He healed the sick and raised the death and turned water into wine and fed a multiple with food as little as a 7 year olds' lunch, granted! but how is He our look alike? Here it is; Genesis 1 Vrs 26- "And God said; let Us make man in our own image, according to our likeness....."If so, why should we stalk him?
Act 17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
Act 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

According to the scriptures above, we are supposed to seek him and find Him as well; that's the basis for stalking Him. And it goes on further to say that in Him we live and move and have our being, meaning our existence is wired to Him so I hate to burst your bubble but we are here to stalk Him for life and not to live like we wish (which would be selfish on our part).
Stalking someone can be hard because sometimes there are strong securities you can't penetrate (why even go through the stress?) but when it comes to Jesus it's easier; He lives in us and we in Him. Also we have the Holy Spirit; our teacher who teaches us into all truth, our comforter, our compass and our most reliable friend; we have the Bible as our manual as well-- stalking made easy. We get to know everything about Him, what He likes and dislikes, what He would do and not do, everything He wants us to know to live like Him is all being made ready at our disposal therefore He expects a lot from us. To whom much is given, much is expected - Luke 12:48.

We must do what He did and would do, not go where He didn't and wouldn't go (am using past and future because Christ led His life here on earth as an example and the Holy Spirit is in us to help us continue to live that life)
Psa 1:1- 2; Blessed [is] the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful, but His delight is in the law of the Lord, and he meditates on it day and night.

For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin-‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:15.
Christ knows and understand what we are going through because He faced it too but in it all, He came out without blemish. It's true we do falter but let us not get comfortable and accept that we are mere mortals therefore we are fallible. If Christ was able to live a blameless life, we should believe we can do too.
Christ became like us so He can save us. He became a man, He lived on earth, He lived among men, loved in the sinful world, but He still didn't compromise; He was without sin and at the end He still fulfilled His purpose; that's to reconcile us to Christ.
He didn't join the murderer to kill so He can save him, He didn't lie to Pontius Pilate that He wasn't Christ so that He would be released, He didn't sleep with anyone to win them into the kingdom ( I saw that story about a lady who had to sleep with a guy to win him for Christ), Christ didn't smoke to win some one; He shared the word. The word of God is quick, powerful and sharper than any two- edged sword, cutting into the soul and spirit even to the joints and marrow and the discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart- Hebrews 4:12, and the Word is Christ, so let's allow the Word to work and not get in the way with our worldly desires. Let's always remember we are stalking (following, researching, learning, copying) God and He would never ask us why we didn't sleep with that guy/lady  to win them into His kingdom because He knows it's wrong and He didn't do that Himself. "As He is, so are we also in this world" - 1John 4:17b

Don't settle, don't compromise, don't do what God would not do. Yearn to know Him more and live like Him. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch because they lived like Christ and it was evident that they have been with Him.
"He who grows not in the knowledge of Jesus, refuses to be blessed" - Charles Spurgeon.
When people see Us they would see Christ because We have stalked Him properly and We look like Him too.
Stay blessed and stalk God.

  1. One of the greatest messages I have ever read about stalking. There are anti-stalking laws in some parts of the world but stalking Jesus comes with no penalties.

Grateful for such a powerful message.
